As a dynamic and agile driver of supply chain excellence, this role guides established pharmaceutical products throughout their commercial lifecycle ensuring the delivery of life-changing medicines that improve health. The Product Manager is responsible for the positive commercial development of a pharmaceutical portfolio manufactured by multiple supply partners. To achieve this goal, this role drives supplier management, procurement strategy, and process excellence on the one hand, and on the other hand leads interdisciplinary teams to identify product optimization opportunities and drive these initiatives through to successful completion from idea to implementation, with personal accountability for results. This role governs multiple workstreams simultaneously, ensuring disciplined project execution, and steering of cross-functional teams with clarity and purpose. As a center of excellence within the supply chain organization, the Product Manager provides governance, best practices, and strategic support to our operational teams and customers worldwide based on data analyses that prioritize commercial impact and supply resilience. 

A challenging task

  • Management and oversight of a portfolio of established pharmaceutical products distributed globally through licensing partners with full accountability for commercial performance
  • Development and implementation of supplier strategies to ensure competitive and robust external supply chains, including conducting price and contract negotiations
  • Driving supplier relationship management, including performance monitoring, capability development, and risk mitigation
  • Alignment with customers on mid- and long-term decisions to secure the market position of our products
  • Conducting in-depth market and product analyses in collaboration with scientific and commercial departments and presenting recommendations to management
  • Taking responsibility for initiating and implementing of such improvement initiatives as the empowered lead of interdisciplinary project teams until all markets and customers have implemented the improve. Challenging timelines, costs, and scopes to meet project targets - striving for continuous improvements in supply chain governance and clarity, always targeting the most suitable decisions based on commercial potential
  • Providing expertise and governance in external supply planning, capacity management, and material availability in collaboration with Operations Managers with decision-making authority over supply priorities and escalation paths
  • Acting as the escalation point internally and externally for risks and disruptions in the supply chain, ensuring proactive countermeasures, and provide transparency on status, risks, and mitigation measures at any time
  • Serving as a key contact for suppliers and customers and representing the Supply Chain department with full mandate to act and decide on behalf of the project team
  • Moderating and fostering goal-oriented, transparent collaboration and inspiring communication to drive supply chain success for our established products - with a pioneering spirit that drives openness and creative teamwork
  • Act as key contact towards internal stakeholders, including preparation and presentation of product updates during Management meetings (i.e. Project Reviews, Steering Committee)

A convincing background

  • University degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a comparable field
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in supply chain, procurement, or supplier management within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or a comparable industry OR at least 5 years of experience in project management in a comparable regulated industry, having led cross-functional matrix teams as the empowered project lead, with accountability for timelines, budgets, and deliverable
  • Proven track record in process improvement, contract/supplier management, and planning excellence with demonstrated ability to independently drive and implement change initiatives end-to-end
  • Strong analytical and solution-oriented skills, with the ability to present actionable outcomes professionally to relevant stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to apply appropriate negotiation techniques depending on the situation including the confidence to negotiate independently at senior supplier and partner level
  • Excellent communication skills in interdisciplinary, international teams with the ability to align, influence, and lead without direct authority
  • Enjoyment in making business decisions and taking ownership with a natural drive to lead teams, resolve ambiguity, and move projects forward decisively
  • Ability to govern multiple workstreams simultaneously, maintain overview across complex stakeholder landscapes, and ensure disciplined project execution
  • Willingness to travel internationally to suppliers, trade fairs, and customers
  • Resilience, composure, and a sense of humor, even in stressful situations
  • Fluent English skills (written and spoken); good German skills are helpful; additional languages are a plus
  • Very good digital and systems knowledge (ERP, AI, Excel, Power BI)
