The Supply Chain Excellence Manager is responsible for driving supplier management, procurement strategy, and process excellence across a portfolio of external supply partners and products. The role ensures competitive, reliable, and sustainable supply chains while fostering strong partnerships with contract manufacturers and suppliers. Acting as a center of expertise within the Supply Chain organization, the Supply Chain Excellence Manager provides governance, best practices, and strategic support based on analyses to operational teams as well as customers worldwide, ensuring alignment between supplier strategies and business needs.

A challenging task

  • Develop and implement Supply Strategies to ensure competitive, robust, and compliant external supply chains
  • Engage and manage a portfolio of international suppliers, partners and service providers from the pharmaceutical industry
  • Lead price and contract negotiations with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers
  • Drive supplier relationship management, including performance monitoring, capability development, and risk mitigation
  • Align with customers for mid- & long-term decision making to defend our products market position
  • Conduct in-depth market and product analyses in cooperation with technical departments and present proposals to the management. Use the results to initiate and conclude optimization initiatives for efficiency and value creation
  • Provide expertise and governance in external supply planning, capacity management, and material availability in collaboration with the Operations Managers
  • Act as escalation point internally and externally for external supply risks and disruptions, ensuring proactive mitigation measures
  • Be a point of contact for both suppliers and customers and act as ambassador for the Supply Chain department
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of standardized supplier management processes, tools, and best practices across our Supply Chain Department
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (Quality, Regulatory, Finance, Commercial) to ensure seamless end-to-end supply performance

A convincing background

  • University degree in business administration, supply chain management, engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in supply chain, procurement, or supplier management within pharmaceuticals, life sciences, or comparable industries
  • Strong track record in process improvement, contract/supplier management, and planning excellence
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to professionally present actionable outcomes to key stakeholders
  • In-depth negotiation skills and being able to apply situation adapted negotiation techniques
  • Being a strong communicator in cross-functional, international teams
  • Be courageous in taking business decisions
  • Willingness to travel internationally to supply partners, fairs and customers
  • Able to work under pressure and keep your composure and your sense of humour
  • Business fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages are an advantage
  • Strong digital and system literacy (ERP, AI, Excel, Power BI).
